Visa and Passport Information

All documents must be current and valid, and passports must have at minimum six months’ validity.

The INAMI, the National Migration Institute, asks for a VISA for citizens of the following countries:www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/Paises_Visa

If a citizen from any of the countries listed above is a permanent resident of Canada, the US, Japan, the UK, or any of the Schengen countries he or she doesn’t need to apply for a visa. This also applies in the case that the citizen of any of the mentioned countries has a valid US visa.

On the other hand, citizens from the following countries do not require a VISA to come to Mexico: www.inm.gob.mx/index.php/page/Paises_No_Visa

Please note that in both cases the INAMI refers to visitors coming for less than 180 days to Mexico, without any paid activities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs charges $555.76 MXN (around $36 USD) per visa application in all countries. This fee is charged in the currency of the country where applicants reside.

We recommend that you apply for your VISA early. If you need an invitation letter, please send email to Megan Warren at warren@lawandsociety.org
