Paper Sessions
Paper Sessions are collections of scholarly papers organized around a common theme.
Requirements
- 4 to 6 paper presenters
- 1 Chair and 1 Discussant.
- The Chair and Discussant can be the same person, if needed.
- Paper sessions last 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Roundtable Session
A Roundtable is a discussion-centered session that is organized around a common theme. They do not require papers to be presented. Roundtables are the most flexible format offered at the meeting — participants can organize debates, visual and musical performances, workshops, films, or any other innovative format.
Requirements
- 4 – 8 Participants
- 1 Chair
- Roundtable sessions last 1 hour and 45 minutes
Author Meets Reader Session (AMR)
An Author-Meets-Reader (AMR) is a session between the author (or authors) of a recently published scholarly book, three designated “readers” who provide comments, and a session chair. AMR panels are limited to books published in the year prior to the upcoming Annual Meeting.
We encourage proposals that that include multiple books (up to three) that can have three readers for each book, where appropriate.
Textbooks, case studies, or edited volumes for AMRs are ineligible.
Requirements
- Discussion focused on one or more sociolegal scholarly books
- At least 1 author
- 1 chair, 3 readers
- All books discussed must have copyright in the calendar year 2024
- AMRs are 1 hour and 45 minutes in length
CRN New Books in the Field
Introduced for the 2016 Annual Meeting, the CRN New Books in the Field Session is an opportunity for CRN’s to introduce several new books in one session. Book titles and authors will be listed in the program, as well as the chair/facilitator of the session.
Requirements
- The session must be proposed by a CRN
- There must be a minimum of five books published during the timeframe (the 2024 calendar year plus January through May of 2025)
- Unlike AMR sessions, these sessions will not include Readers.
- These sessions are exempt from the Participation Limit.
- CRN’s may request that a CRN Book Introduction Session be one of their non-concurrent panels.
- Inclusion in a CRN Book Introduction Session does not preclude a 2024 book from being proposed for an AMR for this year or a 2025 book from being proposed for an AMR next year.
- These sessions last 1 hour and 45 minutes
