This IRC seeks to explore evidence from around the world regarding the role and utility of human rights as mechanisms of social transformation vis-à-vis environmental challenges. We invite both researchers and practitioners from any area of the globe to join the conversation!
Some potential areas of inquiry include:
- Social rights and environmental conflict (e.g., land grabs, pollution, mining, megaprojects)
- Rights of indigenous peoples to safeguard land and traditional knowledge
- Environmental degradation and human dignity/deprivation
- Human rights and large-scale global environmental change
- Rights-based approaches to sustainable development
- Law, Courts, and the SDGs
- The sustainability of economic and social rights
