Wahab Egbewole

University of Ilorin

Prof. Wahab Egbewole, SAN was admitted as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Nigeria Supreme Court in 1985. In 2013, he delivered the 139th inaugural lecture of the University, titled Judex: Hope for the Hopeful and the Hopeless. Prof. Egbewole in the past acted as the Head of Department of the Jurisprudence and International Law and Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin and very recently appointed the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin and Secretary General of the Association of West Africa Universities. Prof. Egbewole has a record of winning and managing international grants.

Prof. Egbewole is best known within the African Law and Society Network as a strong pillar and mentor for upcoming scholars. He has contributed in several ways to support participation of African Scholars in annual meetings through financial and collaborative supports for early career scholars.

Prof. Egbewole became a Coordinator of the CRN 47 which focuses on Socio-Economic Rights. He also coordinates the IRC 3 of the LSA with focus on AU Agenda 2063. He is member of the CRN 13 on African Law and Society. Prof. Egbewole is a life member of the Nigerian Society of International Law, the International Bar Association and several other relevant international law Institutions. Prof. Egbewole has spoken in the American Society of International Law Annual Meetings, Dean’s Lunchtime lecture at the Thurgood Marshal Law School and Keynote Address at the University of Free State, South Africa.
